There are a couple of different types of installation methods for solar panels.

A roof mount is the most common type of installation. Solar panels can be attached to flat or pitched roofs directly which consisting of metal, shingle, or rubber materials.

Not all roof-mounted systems require penetration to be secured to the roof. If you have a flat room, Xiamen Xhfsolar can also provide Ballasted Mounting System. These installations are secured by blocks that weigh the system components down.  And, we can also provide Standing Seam Roof Mounting System without penetration to the roof.

Roof mounts are less expensive because they use your existing roof structure as a foundation. They also take up less room on your property.

A ground mount can be installed in an open area or/and become your solar carport. Ground mounts can be installed wherever the conditions are best for solar, making them a great alternative for those who don’t have enough usable roof space or just prefer to not have panels mounted to the roof.

Ground mounts take up more space, but they're easier to access for installation and maintennace, and in the meantime easier to access for unauthrized visitors.  You might need to install a fence around the ground mount which will drive up the cost.

Both roof-mounted and ground-mounted solar systems are good options.

If you have plenty of unshaded roof space available and the roof is not too old then a roof mount is likely going to be the best, cheapest option. If your available roof space is limited and you still want a way to take advantage of solar's financial and environmental benefits, then a ground mount or solar carport might be a great option.
